ASA Information: The expanded Addition!
Hi Swim Families! We are so excited to have 82 swimmers going to Ga Tech this year! We are going to dominate! We have compiled a super big email with everything you need to know about ASA. Please take the time to read through to be completely prepared.
ASA Information
(Most copied and pasted from ASA coordinator Franke Marsden)
Please have your swimmer on deck by 1:15
All relays are swimming before individual events, so it is super important to stay organized and get the swimmers to the block on time.
Warmups are at 1:30 to 1:50 (have your swimmer on deck with team and ready to go)
- Warmups for divisionals will begin approximately 90 minutes prior to the start of each session. All warmups must be supervised by a coach. Swimmers must enter the water feet first in all lanes and may not use the blocks, except lanes 1 and 10 which are 1-way sprint lanes. During competition the diving well will be available for warmup and warm down only. Swimmers not following these rules will lose warmup privileges.
Meet starts at 3:00pm and ends approximately 6:30pm.
Order of events for Divisionals
- 6 & Under Free Relays - All 6 & Unders should go to the bullpen as soon as they are done swimming their relays to get lined up for their freestyle swim.
- All Medley Relays
- 6 & Under 25 Free - All 6 & Unders swimming the backstroke should go to the bullpen as soon as they are done swimming freestyle to get lined up for their backstroke swim.
- All Remaining Freestyle Relay Events
- 6 & Under Backstroke - After this event the 6 & Unders are done swimming.
- All Remaining 7 and Over Short Freestyle Events
- All Long Freestyle Events
- All Remaining 7 and Over Backstroke Events

- All Breastroke Events
- All Butterfly Events
- With that in mind, I am providing a link to a cheat sheet of sorts. If you click on ASA Divisional Order of Events it will provide you the order of events and the event numbers that go along with it. I hope this info helps.

TRAFFIC AND PARKING DURING DIVISIONALS
There is a great deal of construction going on around the Tech campus right now. It will affect most routes to the side of campus where the pool is located. Please plan your trip accordingly for your divisional session so you don't have to rush to get to your session.
Parking for this year's meet will be a little different. Only prepaid ($12) parking will be allowed in the parking lots adjacent to the Campus Recreation Center (Lot W10) and the Student Center Lot (Lot W2) across the street. If you do not get reserved parking you will have pay more ($15) to park at the State Street (Lot W23) lot a little further away from the facility. To purchase prepaid parking for $12 per day go to https://gatech.parkmobile.io/events . Please keep in mind that with construction in the area we strongly advise teams to carpool as best they can. A map of the parking areas can be found at the following link GT Parking Map

for seating
We will be sitting on the deck but will not know exactly where until we get there and see what kind of space is available. Of course, between the boys and girls pool is ideal.
Please remember, there is plenty of seating for everyone, remind your parents and swimmers to act respectfully of each other and their team areas. Don't take more seating than you need, don't move someone else's belongings, don't sit where you are not supposed to sit. If you can't follow these simple rules, I have a special spot picked out for you and your team. It is located outside...in Dothan, AL, the bad part of Dothan.
League Championship Jobs
To reserve a particular job for the league championship, please e-mail Franke. Jobs are available for timers, bullpen, crowd control, drink workers, awards workers and runners. Jobs are available on a first come first served basis. We have coordinated most positions that are specific to our team. Please check our website for ASA volunteer positions available or contact Franke for positions not specific to our team. [email protected].
Some old and new Regulations
- Keep Aisle Ways Clear - The aisle ways in the spectator area must be kept clear at all times. If you are in the spectator gallery you need to go to your seat. You can't stand in the area behind disabled seating in between the upper and lower seating areas. We will have security guards in that area instructing people about this, so follow their instructions.
- Locker Rooms/Bathrooms - The locker room restrooms located directly off of the pool deck are for SWIMMERS ONLY. Coaches, age 18 or older, meet workers/volunteers, or anyone age 18 or older must use the restrooms located by the diving well, any of the upstairs restrooms, or the other locker facility located by the lower lobby of the CRC. This will specifically apply to teams who want to have coaches or adults take swimmers through the boy’s locker room by the boys bullpen. That staging area must be accessed by the doors by the timing and scoring room.
- Team Seating - We will be sending out the locations of team seating later this week for each session, but we will have more teams being allowed to sit on the deck. Any teams seated upstairs for their team areas will only be allowed to sit over the diving well. Teams may not set up their team areas in any of the seats located over the 50 m competition pool. Additionally, the seating area over the diving well is for team seating only. Please remind your parents to sit in the spectator seats during competition and not in the team areas unless they are specifically there as volunteers to help supervise the swimmers in that area.
- Follow Instructions from Event Staff - Every event and every team has a parent or two who feels they are more special than everyone else and that rules don't apply to them. These rules apply to all of us, anyone that wants to impress the event staff with how important they are and how rules don't apply to them will be subject to a lovely pair of stainless-steel bracelets and a free ride in a police cruiser. Don't be that person.
- There is no smoking allowed in the GTAC.
- Glass objects are prohibited in the GTAC.
- Light snacks are OK on the deck, a catered buffet is not.
- Only swimmers going to their race, coaches and credentialed meet workers are allowed on deck during the meet. Please try to keep the downstairs hallway clear during the meet.
- Please keep all stairways and hallways clear during the meet. Team setup is not allowed there for any reason.

T-shirts and other apparel
The Atlanta Swim Association (ASA) is happy to partner this year with Fine Designs Apparel to provide souvenirs for this year's ASA Championship meet. They will allow us to offer you a much wider variety of items commemorating our annual championship meet, as well as a great selection of colors and materials we have not been able to provide in the past. Fine Designs will be on site at Georgia Tech for the big meet later this month; they have also set up an online store that will allow you to purchase items in advance of the meet, or even after the meet. If you visit https://store.finedesigns.com/southerngreatlakes/2019-asa-championships.html you can view all the great items they have for this year's meet. Obviously, Fine Designs will have a store where you can purchase these items and more at the meet, but we also wanted to provide you the convenience of shopping from home as well. We hope to see you at the end of this month and hope the rest of your season goes well. Information on our meet can be found athttp://atlantaswimming.com/swim-leagues/atlanta-swim-association-home/championship/ . As always, we thank you for participating in our league and all you do for swimming.
